Shedding of the Skin Cells

It is important to note that skin performs all the vital function like cooling the body and removal of toxins via sweat, oil production to avoid germs and lot more. Skin also performs shedding. Shedding refers to removal of old and dead cells from the skin and replacing the same with newer cells.
Newer cells grow from below and thus they constantly push the older cells. When the older cells come up on the top layer, they get widened due to the activities that we perform. And then finally, they shed or get blown off. This is how the newer skin cells replace the older ones.

It is important to note that every minute around 30000 to 40000 dead skin cells shed from the body. Thus, you can say that in one month’s time the body has a new layer cells. Studies indicate that if average life span of a person is considered then around 40 pounds of the skin is shed in the entire life of a person. It is important to note that the dead skin cell shed along with microscopic mites or critters that are present in the body on dead skin cells
