Knowing the Possible Complications and Prognosis of Impetigo |
One good thing about impetigo is its nature as a disorder that can easily be dealt with. Majority if not all impetigo sufferers successfully get rid of the disease after receiving treatment. Unlike the other types of skin disorders, impetigo leaves no scars to the sufferer. The only issue is the sore that would take a longer time to heal. However, children patients, especially those with weak immunity are at high risk to suffer from persistent sores. If this happens, patients should immediately go to a doctor to seek further medical attention. Possible Complications to Note While impetigo is very treatable, complications are also inevitable. However, this rarely happens. The fact that the disease can spread, contaminating other body parts can possibly happen. Factors that could trigger the transmission of infection include improper washing of hands from touching or scratching the sores. Another possible complication to arise is renal failure, which only occurs when impetigo is left untreated. Applying no treatment allows the infection to extend towards the entire body. Hence, it is highly recommended to seek early medical assistance right after the onset of the initial symptoms. In some cases, impetigo is said to result skin damages that are enduring. However, this is also considered a very rare possibility. |
