The Difference between Mature Skin and Younger Skin

As the person grows old, several changes can happen inside her body. The organs basically start to deteriorate, the bones become weaker, the eyes become blurry, etc. Additionally, it is not only the internal organs that would depreciate but also the outside appearance. The first noticeable deterioration mark is the skin. It can easily be perceived that the skin of a matured person is totally different from the skin of the younger ones due to the following factors:

  • The outer layer of the skin, also known as epidermis loses the capability to heal rapidly because it started to mislay fat-like substances known as lipids, resulting to dryness and flaky appearance.
  • The dermis, inner layer of the skin, loses the elasticity of the tissues and slows down the production of collagen. This will result to wrinkles.
  • The sweat glands will also start to malfunction, decreasing the amount of sweat production. Thus, the body will take time to cool down itself, especially during hot temperatures.

Younger skins are the opposite of the aforesaid mature skin descriptions. Yet, mature skin can still be as glowing as younger person's skin by means of utilizing appropriate skin care options. Skin exfoliation is mostly helpful to old or mature skins because it helps reduce the accumulation of dead skin layers.
