The Effects of Sunlight to the Skin |
Sunlight is very important to the skin of a person. Not just because it is very helpful making your skin tan but because there are certain special cells in the skin which really need sunlight--melanocytes. These cells are responsible in producing brown substances called melanin which hinders the rays of the sun from penetrating deep into the skin since it would cause too much damage. But as you can see, sunlight is needed so that the skin will also be protected from the sunlight, thus, the rays of the sun do not just bring goodness to the skin but also some bad effects. One of the effects of too much exposure to sun is skin cancer due to frequent scorching of the skin breaking the only barrier that protects the human tissues from damaging rays. Actually sun burn is a sign that the skin has been exposed to the sun for a long time. Whenever you are in the beach and you can feel that your skin starts to itch and that you can feel it turning coarse, you should stay under a shade where the sunlight cannot reach you. You should know that the advisable time in which you can stay under the sun is between 7 A.M. and 10 A.M., beyond that the sun will be dangerous enough for the skin. Sun blocks can definitely help your skin not being scorched by the sun so you'd rather have one. |
