How Effective Duct Tapes Are in Removing Warts

Better than using liquid nitrogen in freezing warts or cryotherapy -- This is what the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine has reported about duct tape regarding its capability and efficacy in removing warts.

According to a pediatric dermatologist named Dr. Anthony J. Mancini of Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, duct tape therapy really works in removing warts. And this proposition is based on the concept of two theories. First theory states that duct tape eliminates the skin from the wart and slowly getting rid of the virus residing in the skin. And the second theory states that utilizing duct tape in occluding the wart could stimulate the immune system to assault the virus in some way.

The application of duct tape in removing warts may also vary. The most common method is to apply duct tape directly to the wart and keep it covered in about six days or so. This is followed by taking off the duct tape from the wart, soaking the wart in water and paring it down using an emery board. Other patients would utilize other ways but the bottom line is still using duct tape in getting rid of the wart. Regardless of how the procedure is performed, the main point is that the process of duct tape treatment really takes time as it has to be done gradually. And that the application may need to be performed repeatedly until the best possible result is acquired. This then would require time and commitment from every patient.
