Facts about cold sores

Cold sores, often known as fever blisters are commonly seen on the mouth, nose and lips in the form of small, fluid-filled blisters. These sores are unusually painful and are caused by a typical herpes simplex virus type 1. It is basically an infection that affects human beings, which is recurrent in nature.

For the people who have already had cold sores before, they can actually sense when another one is coming. The sores usually have a tingling sensation on the spot it has chosen to erupt. Red blisters filled with watery fluid appear on the spot within a day or two.

Although cold sores might not be very painful during the initial days, as the sores burst out, it starts causing immense pain and discomfort. Also, because the sores appear on the face in the form of facial lesions, it becomes extremely embarrassing for the person experiencing it to come to out in the open.

Some people are generally more vulnerable to cold sores, and they tend to get it at least 3 to 4 times in a year. Others might experience a single episode of the condition, while some lucky ones might not.

Cold sores are a recurring skin condition; once you have it, you will have it even in the future.
