Moles are something that most people have, some big, some small and one of the things about moles are they must be watched. The mole must be watched because while some people even consider them beauty marks they can become cancerous.
The mole is a raised spot on the body that can be tan, brown and even black, and the happen because of cells that grow in a cluster instead of spreading out on the skin. The name of these cells are mlenocytes and can darken from sun exposure, pregnancy or during puberty. Moles can also appear as people age with some people having as many as 40 moles on their body during adulthood. Most moles appear on the skin prior to the age of 20 and they can also disappear with age. They can change in shape, size or color and these moles should be watched and checked by the physician or dermatologist, as some moles can be affected by melanoma. This can be life threatening if not removed early, since this is a type of cancer.
Many people choose to have moles removed because of where they are located, the size or if melanoma runs in their family.
