Candidiasis during Pregnancy

Majority of the women experience yeast infection during pregnancy. This is based on the fact that Candidiasis is inevitable to pregnant women. Some would experience it once while others would have it several times per pregnancy. A reality states that once a woman experience symptoms of yeast infection or getting infected with Candidiasis during the last pregnancy, it is more likely to re-occur the next time she gets pregnant. Other factors that would increase the chances of having yeast infection during pregnancy include previous use of contraceptives like birth control pills, as well as with antibiotics.

Common symptoms of Candidiasis during pregnancy would include white discharge from the genital area, painful and burning sensation during sex and urination, itchiness and discomfort in the vagina and enlargement of the vulva. Having Candidiasis during pregnancy is a precarious scenario. There is a tendency that the infection would become persistent as hormonal changes also take place during this time.

It is very important for any pregnant woman who suffers from Candidiasis during pregnancy to consult a physician or your OB/GYN immediately. Only a doctor knows what treatment to apply during this condition. Doctors would usually prescribe topical medications since they are safer than oral medications. Aside from topical treatments, vitamins and supplements may also be given.
